Pressure from driving instructor

Hi there, I am just looking for a bit of advice about a request from my instructor that I think is a bit ridiculous.

I learned how to drive in Limerick and did my 12 EDT lessons with this instructor. I did not have my own car but she offered me practice lessons for 40 to improve my driving. She convinced me I needed to be doing these every week and as I am a student it was costing me a fortune. Im not the most confident of drivers and thought I needed all these.

I bought my own car and shortly afterthat I moved to Galway for work. I haven't sat my test yet and drive with someone when its possible and only do short journeys on my own as I'm conscious I shouldn't be driving on my own.

I've been called for my test in Limerick and told her the date and now she wants me to drive all the way from Galway to Limerick for lessons coming up to the test. I would not be comfortable at all driving that distance on my own but shes pressuring me into it?

Is this a crazy request? Any advice would help.

It's illegal for you to drive without a qualified driver beside you at all times. That's the short version of it.

You need to be doing your pretest lessons on the test routes so I see where she's coming from in that regard.

I've done several of these before I left Limerick so I'm very familiar with the routes.

€40 seems too steep. I'm paying €25 for my pre test lessons.

That is very unprofessional behaviour from her. You really should report her to the RSA, as people like her give the good ADI's a bad name.

Report her, you should never feel pressured by someone you're hiring to help you and she definitely shouldn't be encouraging you to drive illegaly.

Plus her prices are very high!

is she actually wanting you to drive illegally to Limerick or is she basically saying get to Limerick as that's where she is based?? Does the instructor know you moved? What kind or pressure?

Who are you doing your pre test lessons with? Is that a standard charge?

    It's 25-30 in Kilkenny

OP alot of people won't agree. Driving on your own is the best learning. I drove alone for over a year on L plates. I never once got stopped by guards and I drove by numerous patrol cars.

You have 12 lessons completed so you know the drills involved in the test. your instructor wouldn't let you drive if she didn't feel confidence in you.
