Hi, if anyone could give me some advice I'd be very grateful. I'm wondering how to get into a hospital lab. I finished college in NUIG with a level 8 science degree in 2012, I specialized in microbiology. Unfortunately I have no lab experience outside of college. I'm currently working in a medical device factory as part of the production team but I want to get back to science and would love to be in a hospital lab. I'm finding it difficult to get helpful information through online searching.
Any information would be great, do I have to do some placement or internship first? How do I go about applying? Is my science dregree good enough or is there other qualifications I need?

Probably publicjobs.ie for the public appointments and the br dept of each private hospital for the private hospitals

I'd suggest you keep an eye on the hse.ie website, or get in contact with one of the agencies who look after allied health professionals. A google search should list such agencies.

To work in a medical diagnostic lab (hospital lab) you need to meet the membership requirements of the Academy of Clinical Science and Laboratory Medicine ( www.acslm.ie ). They have a 'Pathways to Membership' document on their website either under the membership tab or the publications tab.
Membership of the ACSLM is required by the department of healh.
