Low water pressure

My dad has a bath with a shower hose affixed to it. The water pressure is maddeningly low, it wasn't always but has been for a good few years now. It's not the shower hose as we have changed them a few times over the years. I've heard of shower hoses that are specially made for low pressure baths, which "pushes" the water out at a higher pressure but haven't seen one in the shops. Any advice? Should I just call in a plumber? Hesitant about this as money is an issue.
