Is it possible to do this without getting some one else and the expense? I can do the connections and stuff but worried that as soon as I remove the single LNB and replace with the double that my signal will be gone!!!
Can anyone provide tips? We've waited long enough for the guy from the shop to turn up (almost 5 months), and doing without recording function till now.

And as I'm at it is a bigger dish preferred when doing this as it appears to be a smaller one than Sky would use. (I have a sky dish from old property).

    Thanks.

When I get home from work I'll take a picture of the current set up if it stops raining for 5 mins😠as the image could be to my advantage in case I forget which way around it was facing Lol 😂

Replacing the LNB is very easy and it will work regardless of it being single, double, quad etc. It wont effect the signal with a straight swap. Have a look at the single LNB and you will notice there should be a slight skew to the LNB, replace the old with the new in the exact same way. Be careful when swapping it out just make sure you dont knock the dish out of alignment.

Regarding the dish, i presume it is for Sky tv or Freesat? If so and your receiving single now dont worry about changing the dish. Change the LNB and your good to go.

You don't lose all recording functionality if you only have a single feed. It just limits what channels are available while a recording is taking place.

A twin tuner fed from a single feed will be better than a single tuner in this regard, but of course you're always better off with 2 independent feeds.

Sometimes if the dish is very old the LNB supports could literally disintegrate with rust if you try adding another LNB. You should examine the dish first and if it's very old consider instead spending €50 on a new quad LND dish.

Cool, sure that's true, I forgot it's the dish that's alligned not the LNB Oops. :-)

Ill try it as soon as the weather improves as ladders are required .

    Thanks all .

You do realise that you will have to run another cable into the house if there is only one going in ?

Also with the Sky dishes, from memory the LNB holder on the dish has 2 screws either size which you unscrew to pop off half the holder, then stick in the new lnb and rescrew and tilt to the same way the old one was pointing (referred to earlier as skew).

Yes, I did realise that :-) I had to run an extension already when I first moved in, or my TV would have melted beside the stove where the original connection point is. Lol It will be fun!!

    Thanks for the tips :)
