    Hi,
I would very much like to know who the periodontist is you're referring to and why you feel they're wonderful at what they do.
Any periodontist I have seen thus far has been an emotionless assholes who is only interested in slicing your gums open- they are surgeons after all and where they get their kicks is quite different to normal folk.
Furthermore they couldn't give a ****e about aesthetics and how you would like to have a nice smile.
They are extremely narrow minded and care solely about the gum area. As far as they're concerned you didn't practice oral hygiene correctly so now you've got to deal with the consequences.
A really disgusting group of so called " Professionals" - Completely lacking any human interpersonal skills what so ever.
I'm intrigued to know the periodontist you're referring to and the treatment/ surgery you've had that justifies how " Wonderful" they are.

I'm certain you are a joy to treat. When you are referred to a periodontist, obviously it is because you have gum disease and I'm sure you don't have to be told, the primary cause of that is poor oral hygiene. Also, specialist periodontal treatment often involves surgery on your gums, that is why your dentist/hygienist doesn't do this for you. I suspect you don't like the message, so you shoot the messenger.

Wow but there's a lot of anger there :(
The primary function of a periodontist is to treat& stabilise gum disease. A bit like a furniture restorer treating a table for woodworm! Until the disease is controlled, you can't do anything much on the cosmetic side- to use the furniture analogy, the "French polishing"!
It's very very difficult to restore the appearance of the gums back to their original state. (Google "black triangle disease). In severe cases of periodontal disease, it's nigh on impossible.
So then you need to consider- do I just replace these teeth with artificial ones?
From your post, it's clear there's been a complete lack of respect& faith in periodontists - probably because it wasn't made clear from the outset the limitations of what can be achieved. & also as a patient whether your priority is retaining your natural teeth for as long as possible at any cost, or whether the best possible aesthetic result - artificial or otherwise- is your primary concern.
I'd strongly advise seeing a *prosthodontist* (the "French polishers"! ;) )for consultation instead.

They don't need to justify their experience to you or anyone.

You need to chill and recognize that you are part of the interactions you've had with other periodontists.

Seeing as its been an uncomfortable experience, you can try to identify any common denominators.

    Oh dear!
I have only seen one periodontist and again I will attest to my thinking they were wonderful, maybe i was super lucky, I don't know. But I can certainly say that never once was I made me feel bad or guilty, despite having an extremely bad case for my age (mid 30's). They were kind, considerate, understanding and really nice people - from the receptionist to the nurses too. In return I was grateful of their patience with me and taking the time to do everything to avoid surgery and explain everything thoroughly. It serious stuff, its a painful horrible experience but they looked after me better than i could have imagined!
I have seen kids in the surgery come in absolutely delighted to see him!
    Best of luck dude.

I had horrendous mouth injuries after a fall and was very happy with my periodontist (south Dublin city). Happy to recommend him by PM if you're still looking. As for cost, I don't really have anything to reference it against, but it didn't seem out of whack with what I had expected
