So i need to paint the kitchen ceiling, all i know is that there is a oil based ceiling paint on it now. I was told that it is best to stick to the same type of paint and not over paint it with a water based paint as it could cause problems. The problem is i don't know what type of paint I need. Was told semi gloss but cant find it anywhere. Can anyone help and point me in the right direction?

Try Zinnser Perma-White. Water based and can be applied over solvent based paints. Personally I think a matt finish for a ceiling looks better

That's excellent for areas with high moisture such as bathrooms and kitchens!
