Has your solicitor mentioned to you why it hasn't yet gone through?

Ring them tomorrow morning and tell them you want all the money plus any interest paid by close of business Tuesday or you'll be making a complaint to the law society.

    Law society number.
Complaints and Client Relations Section, Law Society of Ireland, George's Court, George's Lane, Dublin 7.

    Tel: 01 879 8700, fax: 01 879 8785 or email complaints@lawsociety.ie.

That may be a bit previous. Unless the solicitor has received the settlement cheque and is witholding it without good reason, I don't see why the solicitor should be reported to the Law Society.

Settlement cheques often take six weeks. By that standard, the cheque may be two or three weeks late.

I don't have all of the information but I don't see why this is an appropriate matter to be reported.

If a defendant refuses to comply with a settlement agreement, he can be sued for simple breach of contract.

Does the complaints system work I can't see why they would punish someone that pays in to their system? And op I hope you get sorted.

So the solicitors struck off, restricted in how they practice, finned and ordered to pay costs is just a fiction then?!

when your case was settled was there not a pay off date before you agreed the settlement?

If it's an insurance company very rarely done, a settlement cheque can take up to 8 weeks some times more then a week to clear before any funds can be paid to client.

The OP didn't specify that the solicitor actually had the money. Perhaps he might do that. In any event, even if the solicitor has the money, it has not been clarified when he received the cheque.

No there was no date giving to me as to when I should receive it was awarded that day first week in May. When I have contacted my solicitor about it they never said they didn't receive it and the last three times I spoke to them she said she was sending it through that day which went on over two weeks?!? I then spoke to a lady who was over her and she said that my solicitor had mislead me and she would sort it but still no joy

I would send a nice polite email to the "lady who was over her" making reference to the different failed attempts (dates, person who you spoke with, the promises made) to close this off and asking her to confirm when this matter will be finally be completed.
A written request will help them get the finger out.

I will try that but due to false promises by them I have very little hope that it will be

By putting it down in writing, you are leaving them in the position of having to either effectively dispute everything or if it goes unchallenged then it can be assumed that you were given promises that never followed through.
If you don't do anything, then the previous promises could be considered as having never been made!
