Water damage

    Hi Folks,
Long story short, I dropped my iPhone 6+ into water.
I took it to a local iPhone specialist. They were able to get it working again, initially, but it keeps overheating and restarting every few minutes.

If I take it to Apple, out of warranty, obviously, how much would it cost to replace it?
Would this cover out of warranty water damage?

    Cheers!

    No it wouldn't!
Accidental damage will require an out of warranty replacement at a cost of about 294€.

Almost certainly it would, it covers 'accidental damage' and clearly water and a fall onto a hard surface are the two most common types of accident to befall handheld gadgets. However the damage would clearly predate the taking out of the policy so it would be fraudulent to take out that policy and then lodge a claim.

Surely if the op was asking about Applecare they would post a link? to buy it over the phone you have to do it in the first 60 days and they also send a diagnostic test to the phone as well.

If you've gotten it fixed somewhere other than apple approved, then apple won't touch it. Happened me before with an iPad

Out of warranty repacement for iPhone 6 plus cost €331.30, I wouldn't share too much info of what happened to phone after the water damage and they may replace it then.

What's the story with the so-called iPhone specialist you went to, I assume you didn't have to pay them then, not really a specialist if they charged you for not fixing the phone, did they not give you warranty?
The only shop I would trust is e-tech in Dundrum, you could try and get a quote of them before contacting apple, they may be able to fix it for a lot less. If not they probably won't charge you but not sure on that. Better make that clear before handing it over.

They didn't charge anything, even though I was able to get it turned back on and make a backup of it.
