What measures fuel consumption

    Duration or distance?

For example its takes 22 minutes for me to drive from North dublin to Tallaght through the toll covering 24 km

It takes 34 minutes to go through the city covering only 18km

So what would work out cheaper? Getting there faster without bearly touching the brakes or going through the city which is less of a distance but 12 minutes extra on the road braking at lights etc

Your already at least €5 down using the toll and so town will be cheaper unless you're in some huge gas guzzler.

I have a number of friends living around the Castleknock area, so depending on the time of day or if I had time to kill, I'd elect to take the toll or wander through Chapelizard / Phoenix Park coming from the Sandyford area along the M50 North.

Consumption was pretty much the same but slightly better on the M50 as you can maintain a steady burn. The 'saving', in my book, is purely your own time. Flat out it would probably cost me 12 to 15 mins to get through the Park direction. So the 'cost' of that is versus the €3 on the toll. However that 15 mins would probably burn a €1 more in petrol by the time you stop / start and take the hills in the area. So your down to a €2 saving on the toll at a cost of 15 mins. On a bad day, its case equal in terms of consumption (Again noting the M50 would probably still be better)

In the grand scheme of things, I'll nearly always elect to get there faster as the saving is neglible in the world of motoring.

Remember also if you have a tag the toll is only €2.10

For diesel cars like my own, I would always take the ring road option rather than driving through the city, as a) it consumes less fuel and b) I've learnt from previous DPF problems to avoid any unnecessary city trips.

Thanks for that. Answers my question

Anyone can set up a video account and add any vehicle they want. I've both my parents cars on my account so that they don't have a panic if they use the toll bridge.

Dosent work. Soon as I enter the registration it says outstanding debts must be paid off first

Any 0's in your reg? If your reg is 08 KY 7099 put a bit of tape over the middle of the 0 to make it 7899 and then enter 08 KY 7899 on eflow.ie.

    (This isn't fraudulent at all.)

The best example of this I've seen is on a 2007 Porsche. The owner decided to make the 6 in the reg an 8 by screwing in the number plate bolt to fill the white gap.

    I wonder why :pac:

I was motorchecking it one day and it came up as a Passat TDI, I copped on later on...

Wouldn't mind driving to Dublin to try it but the 290km journey is a bit offputting...

What would the gards say if they pull me over an check my plate and notice it?

Also what if I did change it and didn't register it.. Would i still get bills even tho they don't read as my own reg?

Its entirely fraudulent to deliberately alter your plate.

And you would eventually get bills if they reviewed the snaps and probably be in more trouble.

If you can't afford it, take 15 mins extra and go around.
