Apartment living - stairs and other things

I've lived in apartments since I've moved out of home. All my friends are living in apartments, my mum lives in a bungalow, and my dad had an apartment.

I've just realised - I haven't been in a house with a second floor in ages. I can barely remember what stairs from the hallway to the landing look like! Banisters - WTF are they?

I vaguely remember carpets and wallpaper. Particularly that rice wallpaper that would be covered in gloss and could never be removed again.

Are you guys apartment or house dwellers? I don't need a house at this stage - but I'm suddenly missing carpeted stairs. Although they're a bastard to hoover as I recall..

I swear to God I was just thinking that I don't remember what it's like to walk into a house without stairs being the first thing you see. I couldn't remember the last time I was in a bungalow.

    This is weird!!!!

No attic to throw Christmas decorations in.

She, if you don't mind. Although it's not going to change if you do mind either!

I lived in an appartment. And I consider myself as a very light sleeper. Get out while you can. When you get a house, you will never look back. No bangs, no noise.. Just pure bliss.

Attics are evil. You can get them in apartments too.

Me: Should I throw out this odd looking screw that came from some flat pack furniture but clearly has no use right now?

Brain: No. Put it in the attic. It will become invaluable in time... Mwa ha ha ha ha.

I live in an apartment building in Dublin that was constructed around 1999-2001. Walls are solid concrete and most of it is carpeted, almost never hear the neighbours.

I live in an apartment but long for a house.

A separate kitchen from your living space, plenty of storage, outside space that doesn't mean being separated by a bit of balcony board from your chain smoking, screeching at their kids neighbours., no listening to the person above you clomping around on the wooden floors they're not allowed to install. Bliss!

I live in an city centre apartment and it's quieter both outside and inside than any suburban house I've ever lived in. Love having security on call also, they'll quite happily kick down the front door of anyone who fancies playing music obnoxiously loud after 10pm.

Back to the stairs though, it's no joke when the elevator is out of action. 20 flights up and down.

I live in a house, a very big house in the country. When I get older I'll move into a bungalow though, all these people living in houses with stairs into their old age are mad. There'll come a day when you won't be able to spring up them stairs anymore my dears, and then when the trouble begins. And don't get me started on houses that only have an upstairs bathroom!

I'm an apartment man. I've got 120m2 of flat beautiful space to myself and my girlfriend and couldn't be happier. So open compared to standard house design.

I lived without a stairs once, for five weeks. Other than that, I've always had a stairs.

(Am I actually saying these words?)

I grew up living in a house. Spent a few years renting various apartments. Living in a house again the past couple of years, as I seem to have accumulated a boyfriend and baby somewhere along the way and need the extra space for them and their accessories.

I really miss living in an apartment! I miss being able to do a full deep clean of the whole place in an hour or two. I miss the security of being a few floors off the ground and being able to leave the patio door onto the balcony open at night. I miss not having to be running up and down the stairs when you've forgotten something in the bedroom or whatever. I miss the clean lines and functionality of the design of the apartments I lived in. I miss not having a garden to worry about maintaining.

We are renting the house we're in now, but chances are I won't ever live in an apartment again, as we need a lot of storage space. Oh well. :(

i live alone in a small isolated one story house on the outskirts of dublin,

im located 5 km from a town, 5 km from an industrial estate, 3 km from a tesco and on a train line with a bus route which serves the airport.

my home is yellow in color and is on the edge of a wooded area with a river on the east side. I generally leave at least one window open at night and sleep with my tender anus exposed and uncovered by the blankets, illuminated by the moonlight shining through the open flapping curtains.
