Hi I'm out of shape out of practice and looking for a club in Dublin. Something social but that will take it out of me if I'm not in good enough shape. Used to play backrow but mainly back 3. If anyone knows anything suitable let me know please.

Suppose this thread can be used for clubs looking to recruit too.

I looked for a thread on the first few pages but didn't see anything.

I'll stick up a social rugby thread later in july, that's when most people come over looking for clubs...

For now though where are you based?

Thanks, I'm in Dublin ringsend atm bit probably moving to killester, with a car so looking for a good club moreso than the closest.

Well if it's Killester you could spit on Clontarf Rugby from where you live, I'm biased as I'm a player there but it's a great club, we have 3 social teams - J6, J5 and J4, although the J4's have ranked up a few divisions so they're essentially J3 but we all train together.

Pre-season starts in August, we'll do plenty of fitness stuff around then so it's a good way to get into shape. Currently there's a tag league going on in Clontarf too and the social teams play a bit of tip in St. Anne's park on Monday and Wednesday evenings during the summer so plenty to do get up to speed in terms of running, fitness and ball work too.

To offer a bit of impartiality there's a few other clubs around the area too, most noticibly Suttonians, Emerald Warriors and Royal College of Surgeons, however Suttonians and Emerald Warriors are a drive away and would probably defeat the 'social' aspect of playing nearby.

Do you have experience playing before?

If you really can spit on Clontarf from where you live, I'd suggest doing so

I've a very particular set of skills*. I will find you and I will kill you.

*being a northsider these skills include stealing car ornaments and being able to smell a spiceburger from 800m away

Cheers, I played with teams from u12 to u18 and a little bit then when I was around 21/22. Couldn't play for a while with knee trouble, acl twice and cartilage. Ended up working weekends which put paid to any ideas of regular sports.

Now that's probably the most sensible post you've ever made.

Don't forget Millmount, Unidare, Swords, AIB, Malahide and Trinity. All are in the north side though with varying levels of awkwardness to get to and varying levels of ability to field teams.

In the interests of fairness to Clontarf RFC, you are welcome to spit on these these clubs as well.

They train and play almost all their games out of their grounds in Santry. Seldom you get to play them on the college grounds :)

Consider it an honour. It's probably the finest place you could get to play rugby.

Or in your case, the finest place you could ever get to carry the water bottles :P

Ha! I didn't even have that honour. Just drinking tins and shouting abuse at the ref. ;)

Yeah. College Park pitch mainly is for games for their 1sts, 2nds, 20s A/B sides.
