    Hi,

I was just upgraded to efibre (Finally). I have the F2000 modem from eircom. I replaced my TpLink TD-w8970. But I just read an article about openwrt

    http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/td-w8970

Looks like the hardware on the W8970 is capable of being used as a vdsl modem.

Is there much to it? Had it up for sale, but if I can get it to run wrt and use it as my vdsl modem i'll keep it as I only bought it about 4 months ago.

    Thanks,
    BobbyT28

VDSL2: it could do it, but without flashing some other firmware, it won't do it well. The TP-Link 8970 firmware does include the VDSL firmware, but the driver and firmware don't support vectoring.

    Sell it.

Why do you want to replace the F2000? If it is missing some features that you need then just bridge it and keep using your TPLink. That is what most of us on here have done in similar situations. There are very few people using non-ISP supplied VDSL modems.

Is there much to bridging the tp and the f2000. Any chance of a quick walk through! ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ Have just had a few problems with xbox one and static ip /strict nat and a fee others issues that I didn't onto the tp.

There are instructions how to bridge the f1000 in the thread below

I don't have a f2000 but I imagine that the process is similar.
