Hi all I looking for some info with regard to a 2005 1.4 zetec ford focus that recently slipped the timing belt bending all 16 valves. My question is will a 2002 1.6 Older model head fit and run on the newer 1.4 .
    Thanks
    Jon

Well, if you're sure the newer engine isn't a Duratec then I'd say it is possible given sufficiently advanced magic. After all, it's possible to mate a Zetec head to and old CVH/Kent thus creating the semi-mythical ZVH. However, given that the 1.6 has a larger bore, this would worry me. I'd be concerned about hot-spots, proper sealing of the head-gasket and interfering with coolant and/or oil channels. I'd be inclined to try to source the exact same head.

Hi and thanks for reply ,

Mine is defo not the duratec engine. I just seen the 1.6 available at a much cheaper price than purchasing valves for the 1.4 plus the agony of grinding etc.
I was lookin for cheap quick fix to be honest. Thinking now I just bite the bullet and purchase valves and repair.
A word of advice to any one with one of these focus's make sure the fan / serpentine belt is 100%. It was my fan belt that snapped and before the bat light came on the belt was inside the timing belt pulley which caused timing to slip and all bent valves. And yes all covers were in situ. Very poor design as never seen this happen before on any car. Then had to cut the crank bolt / pulley off as unable to remove.
    Thanks
