What is the most disturbing thing you have ever seen or witnessed?

My younger cousin constantly sends me videos he stumbles across on the interweb. Could be a great goal, MMA takedown, or sometimes something more dark. This evening, it was the latter.

A sixteen year old girl was involved in an armed robbery with two gang members in Guatemala. They robbed and shot a cabbie. She wasn't the shooter. When she tried to escape, she ran into a mob who proceeded to batter the bollix out of her.

It seemed like they had mercifully stopped for a second and she got to her feet and tried to stumble away. Jesus, that was pretty horrific, says I. Not opening that pricks links anymore. But the worst was yet to come.

The mob pushed her back into the centre of the circle and one lad ran by pouring petrol on her and threw a lit rag on her so went up in flames. The whole fcuking village is out now watching this teenager laying on the ground with her torso on fire. Pre teens out recording this shyt with their smartphones. My Spanish is crap, but after a minute of this torture she screams out "throw more gasoline on me, you bastards", so one lads runs over and does just that.

She's still moving at the end. Beyond fcuked up.

God damn, I wish I didnt read that. There was a similar thread recently here with people sharing horrible videos they've watched online and I wasnt any better off reading that either.

I have zero interest in watching those types of videos, never even had the curiosity for them.

When we were passing through a small village in the Midlands when I was about 10, returning to Galway from a holiday in Wicklow, we stopped in a newsagent's to get a few things to eat.
Among the customers already in the shop was a quite rotund and tall young man with glasses, plain white shirt and black trousers, and a very serious visage. He was holding a hurley.
After about a minute, his apparent identical twin came into the shop, identically dressed, and also carrying a hurley. He looked very angry, and without uttering a word, hit his twin an almighty wallop in the side with his hurley.
I could see how much it hurt the other brother, and how angry it made him, but despite the pain he kept his silence, and returned with an equally fierce blow.
Both continued to trade such blows in perfect silence, despite how enraged they were, looking just like Tweedledum and Tweedledee all the while.
My mother and I were pretty shocked, to say the least, and I seem to recall an elderly woman being a bit scared, but the shopkeeper seemed to act like it was a normal occurrence. We left as soon as we'd got our stuff, and the two boys were still tearing into each other.

When I think about it now, my rational mind says it couldn't have happened, or there was some context to explain it, but I remember it so vividly, and I'd prefer not to think that my imagination would conjur up something like that.

Why would someone make that up?

I try to stay away from all of those gore videos, just don't have any interest in them. At the same time I doubt I'd be particularly affected by them. People always talk about that one 3 guys 1 hammer, apparently very disturbing. I've heard it described to me, don't want to see it, don't really understand why anyone would want to see it either.

The worst I've seen I suppose is when I was 12 and saw someone pulled out of a car and beaten to death after some sort of dispute over parking. It was a video though not in real life. Felt a bit enraged after but got over it pretty quickly.

Not really. It's a fairly crude website but if you do visit you'll find that most of the comments condemn violence very strongly. It's brutal, raw and basically amateur journalism. Not something that anyone would have the stomach to read regularly but Liveleak does have its place.

I think at that point she was in so much pain she just wanted to pass away as quickly as possible , not to taunt the crowd.

Saw a very small child getting the head clattered off him by his "father" years ago. Still with me to this day. It was the the look of utter shock and sadness on the childs face that I will NEVER forget. It was like he couldnt believe his Dad would do such a thing to him.
Christ, when I think about it, 15 years on, I'm still fukcing infuriated by it.

And before anyone says why didnt you step in....it happened so quickly. I was just walking past. As far as I could see the kid didnt really do anything(he was about 4). The father just lifted the head off him. That still disturbs me.

Formal warning, this is a list of some of the things I've seen, if you're a bit queasy, avoid it. All I can say is that videos of people being attacked doesn't seem to bother me. If it's a child or animal, Christ all I feel is anger.


I've seen videos of a man in some poor country (I presume somewhere like the Philippines) picking up a kitten and biting it in two. I've seen the video you're talking about in the OP. I've also seen a video from Africa, where a village threw a group of men into a ditch, covered them in foliage and set it aflame, kicking the people who tried to get out back into the flames. I've seen another video from Africa of people having gasoline thrown on them (thankfully one of the people throwing the gasoline didn't know fire travels, so when he squirted more gasoline on the already-flaming people, the gasoline blew up his hand and set himself on fire). Another video of a person in South America being pulled from a river after being eaten by piranhas (the bones were picked clean, aside from the head and some clothes on the torso). I've watched a few of ISIS' films (burning that Kurdish man alive was pretty disgusting, or their most recent one where they fired an RPG into a car of people), and some videos of the Dagestan Muslims beheading Russian soldiers (Dagestan massacre). Countless street fights were the people take a blunt force strike to the head and begin seizing (in some cases, the assailants continue attacking). I've seen a video where some random man gets stabbed outside a restaurant. The assailant walks out, looks like he punches him in the chest and walks off, and the man looks around for a few minutes, unsure of what happened before collapsing and an old lady rushes to help him.

Seen a video of a man in Brazil shoot a cab driver in the head and steal his cash. Also seen a video of man in some South American country walk right up to a man outside and shoot him several times in the head. Seen a video of some man in Thailand in a hair dressers just shoot his girlfriend. The girlfriend's mother tries to escape, slips outside the door and he shoots her a couple times, then just does a little dance and walks off.

The worst video I've seen was probably another South American video. The caption was that two friends were fighting. After trading some blows, one of the men grabs the other in a head lock and chokes him out. Even when his "friend" is unconscious and begins to twitch, the man just tightens his grip and murders the other man, looking right into the camera.

There was also a picture from some Asian country of a person tied up and beheaded, and cooked (the skin looked like the skin of a chicken) with bite marks take out of the back. Cannibalism, I presume.



The worst videos, by far, are the ones from China or other Asian countries were someone runs over a child or randomly attacks a child and the people just walk past it. Or videos of people hurting animals (there was a particular video, where a young girl threw petrol on a turtle and set it on fire, or one where a woman in high heels stood on a small dog and pulled out its innards before standing on them, those videos made me want to seriously find who did it and crush their skulls in).

2nd day in Manila, I was in the market and saw a boy around 10 years old walking around. He was just wearing ripped shorts...no t-shirt or shoes. He was absolutely filthy, with his hair matted with grease and you could barely make out his face behind the layer of dirt. He also had what appeared to be a cataract in his left eye, and he was very skinny & malnourished. But...he had this big smile on his face as he ate some meat on a skewer that he had bought or stolen from one of the street vendors.

At the time I was feeling quite sorry for myself. Things had not been going well, and I'd had to come all the way to the Philippines to work on a short term contract. But after seeing this boy with no home, no family, no nothing, I realised how lucky I was compared to many others. It had such an impact on me that I ended up staying long after my contract ended. I've spent nearly 6 months now volunteering for a local charity that helps these kids. It's been shocking to see them with toothaches for weeks/months, severe scabies, a huge amount of scarring from infected cuts over the years & untreated birth defects. Actually, the instances of birth defects is very high as the mothers often live in squalid conditions and it has an effect on the developing fetus. The end result is this:

But I think the worst I've seen was a dead 8 month old girl lying in a tiny DIY white coffin. She had died from cancer. Her body & face was covered in what looked like 'tumors'. Hospitals cost money and by the time they had brought her to get treatment, it was too late.

Not as gruesome as some things here but when I lived in Ilford in Essex, I was getting a bus home when I walked by a big gang of men.

I had to top up my oyster card so I went into the train station. Thank god I did! As soon as I got in, the men started to fight and shout. Within seconds one guy was glassed across the face.

The blood was just pouring down his face and he wasn't able to walk so his two friends were dragging him along.

That was a huge shock and I don't think I will ever forget it.

I also saw a guy hit a tree when driving a motorbike. He went spinning across the road and luckily missed the bus I was on. A lot of blood there too.

I try to avoid watching all of these videos online, but always end up reading the discussions.

One that I found disturbing, moreso than the savagery in far away lands, was the case of a guy in the UK who was on the edge of a building ready to jump.
While police were trying to talk him down, there were onlookers on the ground recording with their phones and encouraging him to jump.

He didn't jump in the end, but I found these people encouraging suicide so they could get a video of it on their phone disgusting.

Working in a shop years ago on a quiet Sunday lunchtime. This family were in buying shoes for their kids, their eldest fella ~6/7 years old was jumping around a bit but nothing too bad. The place was relatively quiet anyway so not a big deal. Next thing his Dad called him over and open palm slapped him across the face. The noise was incredible, almost blink and you missed it speed, but the kids face started to welt up almost instantly so you could see the impact.

Worse the kid, stood there in shock, giving me the impression he was used to it. The Dad was a big guy too, one of those 5'8 stocky lads with huge forearms.

Reported it to the security guards, but I can't recall what happened after that.
