We just got a large lift and slide door installed at the back of our house that has a thumb turn lock on the inside and no lock on the outside. Is this any less safe than one with a key?

Its not less secure from the outside as an intruders cant snap the lock from the outside if there is nothing to get hold of. If an intruder is already in is an easy exit through a rear door. I would be more worried about them getting in tho.
