Hi folks i'm hoping someone can help me out, its a long story and will try explain it the best i can.
My 7 seater car broke down a while back, it was an automatic and it turned out the gearbox was gone and needed fully to be replaced. Gave the garage the go ahead and they fitted a new gearbox cost 1500euro to do which was the going rate for a Ford Galaxy Automatic gearbox. Anyhow when fixed it was still giving trouble and the garage wasn't happy with it, they thought it might be an electrical problem which was not their speciality, they were a gearbox centre.

They sent the car with my permission to an Auto-Electrical garage a very well known reputable one, after a couple of weeks they couldn't pin point the problem but told me to try source a certain part 2nd hand as a new part could cost 1000euro upwards, anyhow i source the part and pay 200euro for it, they fit it and the problem is still not resolved.

After weeks of phone calls and dropping over the mechainic that was working on my car was on training courses, days off, all sorts of excuses. This particular mechanic specialised in Ford and Volkswagon electrics. I rang maybe 30 times over a 4-5 month period and was told they would ring me back and they still hadn't sourced exactly what the problem was. I was told by the owner they would contact me when they figured out what was wrong with it.

I paid a visit over Monday and was told they have scrapped the car, i was gobsmacked and didn't know what to say, also the owner is away and i would have to take it up with him. I'm a primary medical cert holder and the car was a disabled car with certain things like swivel chairs and other bits. Its also registered with Tax office for Disabled motor tax and Vat on Petrol and vrt. Toll bridge excluded also. The car cost me a fortune to get put right for my disablement and sort out all the bits for Motor tax and things like that.

Just wondering legally where do i stand i never gave permission and never recieved 1 phone call from them, i shhould have known in hindsight something was up when the main man stopped taking my calls and told me he would ring back which he never did once. Thanks for any help

Yes, it's quite a serious issue from what you've said so there's nothing we can offer to you here except that you need to speak to a legal professional.

I'm glad to hear it. I'll leave this open in case you have anything further you'd like to ask but realistically, your solicitor ought to be able to answer any questions you have.

Unbelievable!! Don't think I've ever heard of something that sounds like such a litany of incompetence and bad service!
