It's much of a muchness in terms of gears, SRAM Apex and Shimano 105 are basically the equivalent tier of groupset. It's a question of which one you prefer the feel of basically. SRAM uses a kind of shifting called "double tap", which takes a bit of getting used to apparently (I've never touched it)

I'm a bit confused by the first one's description, in the title it's called the Boardman Team Carbon, but in the title the frame is apparently made of triple butted aluminium? If it is the case that it's aluminium, then go with the other one.

Edit: Didn't notice it's actually a 105/Tiagra mix, I'd go with the Apex one then.

Limited edition is better spec...apex is a nicer group than tiagra

    Thanks for the replies.

Yep the are both carbon, one is shimano 105/tiagra and the ltd edition is apex.

I'm new to road biking and am just over 6ft. I tried a boardman size L which is a 55.5cm semi compact frame. Saddle was only up a little, maybe 4 inches or so and I could just get the balls of my feet on the ground. Does this sound rite?

The sales guy just asked what height I was and said to go with an xl (57.5cm)...but thats only because their halfords chart states that your an xl if over 6ft...

Anyway, the bike has a slightly sloping top tube, so would I be correct that if its 55.5, it would be more like a 57-58 traditional horizontal top tube frame?

    Thanks

No. I suggest you have a look at this and this. Hopefully they will help you out a bit in choosing the correct frame size.

At 6ft I would be inclined towards the 57 if its a compact frame.
