    Re-align shifter on handlebar?

after a crash last night :(, no serious injuries, the shifter/brake for the rear deraileur is now working but bent inwards...prob breaks some rule!!
anyhow is it a big deal to re-align this? its a Campag Chorus shifter

I know it involves peeling back the rubber hood but do i need to

    1. undo cables?

    2. remove bar tape?

    3. regig the whole shabang...

    cheers

There should be an Allen bolt that you simply undo, realign the shifter and tighten up the Allen but. No need to remove the tape unless it's badly out of alignment and the tape has been ravelled or moved too.

as above you should be able to get to it by just lifting the hood up and adjusting it

When tightening it back up, don't over tighten it so that it won't budge should you crash again. If it's on too tight, your shifter could break on impact rather than twist a bit. Better to have a an out of line shifter than broken one. Heard that on a GCN video or somesuch. But then, I hope you don't crash again.
