Enigma2 bare bones no hard disk zero maintenance - possible or not?

Is it possible to run enigma2 on a box without any hard disk and in a bare bones configuration? It would have bare minimum plugins and single sat tuner. Low memory setup.. Probably only crossepg and auto bouquets only running. The basic idea is to provide a cheap zero maintenance box suitable for use by someone without any IT knowledge.

    Is this achievable?

from my own experience id have to say no its not,I have had a vu ultimo and now have a solo2 and they could go months without any maintainence and then out of the blue something fcuks up and id end up flashing it or going to a backup.
about 2 months ago I headed off to Canada for a few weeks with work and when I landed I got a txt from the wife that the box was on the blink,i was away for a month and she was stuck with the irish channels while I was away,i have since bought a humax foxsat hdr as a backup receiver so she will have the freesat at least if the same thing happens again. I suppose with the plugins kept to a minimum it would help.

A HDD is recommended for crossEPG to work properly

I have installed some trouble free Enigma 2 setups but find you'll need to re-flash that image at least once a year and you'll also need to update the satellites.xml. You can use a USB key for CrossEPG
