Exterior Door: Weather repairs

    Hi all,

The attached are snaps of an exterior door in the house. As you can see parts of it have become weathered and I'm looking for the best way to keep it weatherproof. I think it was a munster joinery door and the factory finish while it may be a varnish finish, has a sort of plastic look/feel.

Ideally don't want to do the whole door and wondering what would be the most/suitable product that can repair these sections while blending in without being totally obvious.

    Thanks in advance

    W.

I've used Ronseal 5 year woodstain for a similar job before and it holds up well. You'll have to try to match the colour of the stain. Sand the 3 areas carefully and give it a couple of coats of it with a small synthetic brush. It's water based so easy and quick to apply. If it was me, I'd follow up this by giving the whole door a quick sand and coat afterwards but you'll get away without doing the whole lot.

    Been there, done that.

The Plastic look is because of the good finish, high gloss varnish from the factory.

Its much harder to do just the bad sections, than it is to do the whole door, and if one bit is bad, the rest needs doing anyway.

    Sadolin extra Durable.

Ronsh*t 5 years means you have to do it again, and again every year for 5 years, until you never use it again!
