Road and patio build

Hi all, 2 questions to ask of contributors, need some advice and guidance for some work we have to complete on our house. 1st concerns driveway, entrance to our home is long "road" more like a bothreen, the road has almost levelled completely now and has pot holes which I temporarily fixed using oven range ash and gravel. However I need to put in something more permanent, would love to Tarmac or chippings but couldn't afford it, drive is nearly 180 metres long. A neighbour suggested sandstone binding dust, they have it themselves and it looks good but just want to gauge if anyone has had or knows of any issue with this.

Second question surrounds the outside of our house, we were thinking of slabbing (I worked for a slab company many years ago during summers off from college so would be ok laying it myself) but lately I have been thinking I don't want all of outside slabbed, maybe break it up a bit with gravel in some places or gravel all over, I suppose it's almost as though I'm looking for a reason not to slab outside! Any advice, thoughts from people who have had limestone binding gravel put outside instead of slabbing, u happy you went ahead, any regrets etc

Appreciate all thoughts and advice on both queries
