Translink Trains Operating South Of Newry

    Do Translink Trains from Northern Ireland Operate South of the border to Dundalk etc?

    I frequently sees NI rolling Stock operating south of Newry Train Station and coming back up.

    I am aware that there is cross border services but this is operated in the Enterprise Services trains and more frequently I am seeing the 2200 Class doing it (there is also a 2700 and 2750 class doing a very early morning service).

    But what about the Translink Commuter Trains that cross the border? Is this just for crossing tracks further down?

    There is currently a 22000 ICR set and and an NIR C3K set filling in for two Enterprise sets. There is only one Enterprise train in operation right now because of the refurb program.

    The 2700s and 2750s were all withdrawn from service years ago and I don't believe they ever did work North of Dundalk.

    As far as I know there is one early morning service from Newry to Dublin but I think that it is formed of 2900 stock from Irish Rail, there is no 2700 or 2750 Stock in service so it is not those. The 2200 on the enterprise are replacements for the De Detrich stock while they undergo refurbishment.

    I don't think there is any Scheduled NIR service south of Newry but they do regularly operate specials to Dublin Connolly. From memory there is a set of points just south of Newry station that would allow a south bound train to leave the station, then change directions and enter the station again on the northbound track.

    Belfast-Dublin: 10:35; 16:05; 21:15

    Sundays:
    Dublin-Belfast: 10:00; 16:00
    Belfast-Dublin: 13:05; 19:05

    NIR C3K:
    Monday-Saturday:
    Dublin-Belfast: 09:35; 15:20; 20:50
    Belfast-Dublin: 06:50; 12:35; 18:05

    Sundays:
    Dublin-Belfast: 14:00
    Belfast-Dublin: 11:05

    Enterprise Set:
    Monday-Saturday:
    Dublin-Belfast: 11:00; 16:50
    Belfast-Dublin: 08:00; 14:05

    Sundays:
    Dublin-Belfast: 12:00; 19:00
    Belfast-Dublin: 09:00; 16:05

    Apart from the Enterprise there's none. In fact, there are barely any scheduled NIR services south of Portadown.
