This isnt the normal should i get a topper or mower question. But im s a loss ( knowing feck all about either) as to why there isnt a option for changing a 3 prong blade for a cicular one . Im not talking about mowing for silage but sometimes when topping heavy rushes: thistles or even grass is there a machine i could change blade type to suit the job and cut , say rushes , closer to their root cleanly then put a 3 prong blade back on for normal fast grass topping ?
I would have thought a tighting of a nut would be the only real mechanical work involed ?

Disc mower will do both without needing to change any blades

Heavy clumps of rushes impose shock loads in different places along your mower are as you hit them. In standing grass the load as even as you progress. Some disk mowers only have an inch square hex shaft driving the disks, and it's sad abuse for them to be cutting old rushes. You need to drive slowly.
    Just my opinion.

Toplink length determines cut length on the mounted ones(that and the skids)
The blades aren't held fast so when ya hit somethin it can't cut it folds(rebounds) into the disc so as long as the next blade comes round before the disc itself impacts ya should be grand.

its a digger to drain a piece you need and a sprayer for the thistles
