Last year BBC4 announced the purchase of the Belgium series Cordon.

According to DigiGuide it is starting on Saturday 27th June at 9.00pm.
Cordon is a new thriller out of Belgium, and its premise is eerily similar to real-life events in another country. A man is found to be infected with a contagious and deadly virus in Antwerp. To prevent it from spreading further and causing an epidemic — or worse, a pandemic — authorities cordon and hermetically seal off the city center from the outside world. Life as they’d known it has come to an abrupt halt for the people now trapped there, a situation that leaves them up to their own devices and brings out the best and worst in them.

It's currently being re-made in the US as "Containment".

There is a dedicated BBC Four thread somewhere, not been updated in while.

There is a dedicated BBC Four thread somewhere, not been updated in while.

It's a 10 part series rather than a one-off programme. 1864 had its own thread a couple of weeks ago.

I'm sure Containment will have it's own thread when it starts.

I presume it'll be shown in Flemish?

They don't dub on bbc 4 as far as I know. All the series recently (over last few years) have had subtitles. Salamander had the original Belgian soundtrack and English subtitles.

I think there would be an outcry amongst BBC4 viewers if they showed a dubbed version of a foreign drama.

Thanks, I've been trying to remember that name (Salamander) for a few weeks!

I caught the first episode of this on Belgian TV yesterday. Interesting so far, will probably watch the whole thing.

Enjoyed the first 2 episodes. Set out its stall and the characters, gave you a sense of the early chaos. We're seeing it through multiple sets of eyes, so it'll be interesting to see if they can maintain that. I did like that the journalist is older than his editor. Whilst fatal, and actually on screen fairly infrequently, the infection is suitably nasty.

I liked it, I thought they got the creeping nature of the emergency about right.

The journalist was a a bit of a cliche I think, old slightly bedraggled type who gets one last shot at glory (I bet he dies)

I read it more that he was frustrated within current world of journalism. Old hack on online duty until...

Not sure the police officer inside the cordon will survive, probably as he's a point of contact for his colleagues.

I enjoyed it and I'm interested to see how it all pans out.

I did think it strange that a school group of that age would go on a trip to an Infectous Diseases Lab and be only accompanied by just one teacher.

Yeah, it's a little peculiar for primary kids alright. Wonder how they did the shots of the containers. I'm sure some are real - CG for the rest?

Everyone in the cast looks a bit like someone else. Franka Potente, Toni Collette, Colin Farrell...

ha! Yeah I immediately spotted Farrell. :)

Did anyone keep up with it? I forgot.

Yep, the last two tonight. I reckon most of it is going to be Dawn of the Dead style last minute escape for the group on the top floor from the infected hoards below them. Hopefully the serum will actually turn everyone into zombies (or vampires).

Eh? That was the end? Nothing was explained or resolved? What a weird ending!

Agree, the author would probably say something like "I refuse to write a tidy pat conclusion and am leaving the viewer to speculate" I say they might have been leaving it open ended for a follow up series.

Season two should be filming now.
