    Hi there
I'm just looking for a bit of advice. I'm looking to drive from Maynooth to Drumcondra but as I'm on a provisional licence I can't take the motorway. Can anyone recommend a good route to take?

Not sure but google maps allows you to select routes with no motorway/tolls etc.

Just drive in the old N4 (now the R148) to Leixlip and continue for Dublin. Where you join the dual-carriageway is the point where the inbound M4 becomes the N4. It's no longer a motorway at that point though with three or four lanes you might think it is but the speed limits are much lower than on the M4, it's about 80 kph or so. Follow signs for the city at the intersection with the M50.

When you come to the end of the chapel lizod bypass you'll come to a major junction. Turn left till you hit a t junction and turn right. Continue past bus station on right till you see a big glass building on left (courthouse). Turn left there to top of the hill. Turn right and keep going. Past church on left and past mounjoy prison and mater hospital. At next major junction turn left and continue to your destination.

    +1

Motorway ends at Leixlip, so just join the main dual carriageway there.

One solution would be train, which runs directly in about 35 minutes.
