Bike stands

Asking on behalf of a friend, as I don't commute by bike or own a lock I haven't a clue.

Local village want to install bike stands to accommodate cyclists at end of a cycle path.

Use of path is primarily people returning to cycling, children; very busy on good days empty with a hint of rain kinda use.

What do cyclists want in a stand? Height? On an elevated platform or not? Covered(if it's raining bikes will be very scarce!)?

To date I'd imagine bike theft is unheard of. While security is important it's not anywhere near a high risk location.

On aesthetics, it's not an Abbeyleix like area with an existing themed street furniture, I'd imagine they'd like something kind on the eyes; so your neighbour's brother in law who deals in scrap and can weld a bit probably wouldn't work!

Budget, no idea but as it's mainly voluntary it won't be a lot.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions

One very cost efficient and aesthetically stylish option are the bike stands in Dublin Castle at the Printoworks (just after the arch if entering from opposite Olympia Theatre). Basically two rectangles with one off set which serves the function of keeping bike upright and giving lots of options for locking frame and wheels. Unfortunately I can't send google Streetview as not on the street but worth looking at if around Dublin City Centre.

Definitely not this type as no locking options and risk of damage to wheels/derailleurs.
