    Hi,

Looking to get a Coleman 414 'Powerhouse' stove - it's the larger version of the 424 dual fuel model.

I can't seem to find any European retailer for this. Anyone any ideas?

    Cheers,
    NT

afaik it is no longer available. I think Coleman have really cut back their product lines in recent years and only list the 424. If you check the Coleman website then all they have is the parts lists and manuals for that stove . From the parts lists its in the manual the only difference in them is the generator? 424 14k BTU and 414 17k BTU.

If this is it http://www.coleman.com/product/dual-fueltrade-powerhouse-2-burner-stove/3000000791 then is it the clearance section so I doubt you'll get one.

Thanks for that, I'd already checked the Coleman site and the 'Powerhouse' appears to be a US-only model. Places like Walmart and Amazon US have it but don't ship overseas... very frustrating.

Hopefully the 424 model will be able to meet the needs of a hungry family of 5...

Sometimes they come up on eBay, might be worth a look

Have you any idea how powerful even the 424 is? 14k BTU is about the same as 4KW of electricity. Obviously thats across both burners. The main burner is 7,500 BTU (2.2 KW) and the secondary 6,500 BTU (1.8 KW).

In case you've never used one before may I suggest burning Aspen fuel in them. Better than petrol and cheaper than Coleman fuel. Again if your new to Coleman suitcase stoves then do try them at home outside before taking them camping. Very easy to use but for some reason some people still manage to create a fireball. Just take your time over lighting and preheating.

Nearly forgot you can get Aspen fuel in the larger lawnmower and chainsaw sales/repair places, last time I bought any it was about €5 a litre.

I think the price on Amazon.co.uk for the 414 which inculdes delivery isn't bad http://www.amazon.co.uk/Coleman-3000000396-Unleaded-Two-Burner/dp/B000QUIKX8 .

Second hand without trying it out (unless its for free) can be expensive because the part that gets messed up by using pump petrol the generator isn't cheap.
