anyone seen the Irish price for the new Audi RS3 Sportback yet?

just watching a few reviews on youtube, seems to be mixed reaction but it sounds unreal

Looking like £39,955 in the UK, so you may as well double that and stick a euro symbol on it by the time it gets here. If I wanted 5 doors however I'd take the RS4 or RS6 which are becoming very affordable on the second hand market here and in the UK.

The 3 door RS3 is a pocket rocket by the first hand accounts I've heard.

I was thinking it would have to be priced to be competitive with the M135i or the A45 AMG, 55-60kish?

    it does sound great though

Its sells for 68,000Euro in Germany no counting extras

The previous model was low 70's including a bit of spec. I'd be expecting mid 70's even without a huge amount of options ticked.

Hard to beat the Golf R for most bang for your bucks at present. The RS3 would want to be some car to justify the extra coin.

It's a step or two above a Golf R in every department.

Reviews of it say the exact opposite :(

^^^ That's surprising, I must read some reviews.

It certainly must be a much higher specified car. I'd guess it has floating discs, alloy wishbones etc. which the Golf doesn't. The interior will be better too.

None of which will make any differenceto how the car performs on the road.

Would rather hear the 5 Cyl with less DSG fart.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 717 ✭✭✭UhOh

have it on good authority that the base price for the RS3 will be 66,750 euro!!!

that's 8k more expensive then the A45 AMG, 12k more expensive then the M135i and a whooping 20k more expensive then the new Focus RS......gonna be a rare sight on Irish plates!

Makes the Alfa 4C look good value at €70k tbh...

The Alfa will also dance rings (literally) around any of that competition too...!

I'd have the Alfa or A45 AMG first. Purely on looks alone. RS3 is nice, seen a good few up close and in the flesh, but in that range the difference is so minimal.

Official price in Ireland will be €65,900 ex works and €66,750 OTR as Uh Oh mentioned above. On sale now.

    Few on order already interestingly!

Yep, you can sell anything with an Audi badge in this country, no reflection on whether it's a good car or not.

Considering you could have an extremely high spec albeit slightly older RS4 / RS6 or C63 AMG for half that, it boggles the mind why you would drop that much on a base RS3.

I think he's referring to the quattro benefit in wet weather! Also, the 4C Spyder looks better on account of the normal headlights!

    Doh!

Still think I'd rather a handcrafted Italian sports car than a fast Audi (yawn....)

Ya, I think the RS3 looks sh!t. I assume that 5-pot will be in the new TT-RS though? That'd be a nicer car!

^ Hands up who typed that into google :pac:

Ha ha yeah I meant the challenge of keeping the thing on the road rather than the effect on the owner's hairstyle :)

Hope things turn around for Alfa, they could be an Italian Jaguar with proper investment

Will be interesting to see the new RS3 tested against the Golf R and whether it is worth the extra money.

They are two different cars. The Golf R is compatible with the S3 not the RS3.

RS3 will up against the A45 and then the Focus RS & Golf R400 when they arrive next year.

Add the sports exhaust & adaptive suspension on the RS3 & you're up to an eye watering 70k.....not sure any hatchback is worth that sort of cash.

    Always thought:

Hot hatch - Golf GTi, Audi S3
Super hot hatch - Golf R, Audi RS3

It would seem the RS3 is being pushed as a hyper hot hatch then.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,140 ✭✭✭James Bond Junior

I saw one the other day in Limerick. Red one with a 151 plate.

Edit: in hindsight it may have been an s3. It had quad pipes where as the rs3 has two fat rear pipes according to google.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 203 ✭✭Rob C

The Golf R is the S3 with the VW badge. RS3 is in a different league.

But have to say, I wouldn't be pushed looking beyond the S3, a very good car. More expensive than the Golf R though due to the 4 rings. Though the cabin is way nicer in the Audi.

Wow that's some price for the RS3. Crazy money when you can have an M135i for €50k, and that's got rear wheel drive and a six pot engine as standard. Plus, it's available with a manual gearbox.

Hot Hatch - Golf GTi, Audi A3 2.0T
    Hotter Hatch - Golf R, Audi S3
Hotter again Hatch - Golf R400/420, Audi RS3

Both the S3 and Golf R have the same 4 cylinder 2.0TFSI engine with 300bhp and four wheel drive (quattro or 4Motion).

    RS3 gets the 5 cylinder 2.5TFSI with 367bhp.

    Different (crazier) beast.

facelift A45 AMG is due in September apparently, bhp is up from 360 to 380 so the RS3 won't have the most powerful hatch crown for long

Granted its not stock but I believe MTM and others can get the RS3 north of 470hp. Serious business.

apparently American tuners are getting +500bhp out of the 2.3 Mustang EcoBoost engine, same engine is in the new Focus RS.

Doubt the tuners brabus etc will be able to get much more from the A45 as its only a 2 litre.
