Hey, I have no clue about the best things to look for in a tv, I do go on the laptop a lot and I own an iPhone. I do stream movies/programs on things like projector tv etc.

I am looking for a 40 inch smart tv…..My budget is around e400, I can spend more if it will mean a better tv and value. I was looking at these 3, but I. open to suggestions, also, if it's worth waiting a few months, I have no problem waiting….
    TOSHIBA 40L5441DG
    Toshiba 40L3453DB
    PHILIPS 42PFH6309/88

Mods, if this is on the wrong forum, I apologize and ask you to move, thanks!

You could get a Chromecast for about 40e. Basically it turns any tv into a smart tv, you can watch Netflix, Youtube and other apps and if you install the extension you can mirror your smart phone or laptop and watch any video online by 'casting' it.

You could buy a non smart HD tv for around 250-300e and the chromecast for 40e.

Thanks, I did a little research and that seems to be the way to go, since most tv makers stop upgrading their smart tis and the systems for browsing etc are clunky to begin with.

I will get the Apple tv to go with my regular led tv, only thing I need to figure out now is whether to go with the current Apple tv or wait for the new one in the fall :/

New gen ATVs (3rd) and presumably those to come are restricted in what they allow you to install. Prior to that one could install 'reasonably' easily a program called xbmc, now called Kodi, which opened the system out somewhat. Android boxes now perform a similar function - there's a thread over on the android forum about them and these may suit your needs better. Lots of choice in that area tbh.

My recommendation- buy a pretty decent HDTV, which will probably save you hundreds over a Smart TV. Then get a Chromecast/Raspberry PI/Apple TV and then, with the money you've saved, buy yourself something else nice.

There's really not much point in Smart TVs, I don't think.
