Astra G rough idle and stall

i was driving my 1.4 16v Astra g home when engine light came on,car seem to be driving ok, got home, then before turning engine off rough idle and cut out ,tried to start again ,but had to put foot on throttle to get it going,rough idle again and stalled,car seems to rev ok, but also noticed a whining down noise coming…

i was driving my 1.4 16v Astra g home when engine light came on,car seem to be driving ok, got home, then before turning engine off rough idle and cut out ,tried to start again ,but had to put foot on throttle to get it going,rough idle again and stalled,car seems to rev ok, but also noticed a whining down noise coming from engine when it stalls after engine has stopped. any ideas?
ps changed spark plugs last week, so put old ones back, still same.

Use the pedal test or the paperclip test to find out the fault code. Google will show you how.

paper clip test 1405 _ EGR valve i think ,replace this about 3yrs ago ,didn't think this was fault as different symptoms then before use to idle. but rough ride, now ride ok but wont idle?

Certainly worth taking the EGR off and giving it a clean.

Took egr out, cleaned it up with wd40, was stuck down, all good now. thks
