Stone in brakes?

    Hey folks.

Just turned on my car to go for a drive and the front left tyre is screeching like hell. Its a 142 Seat so no brake pad issues I would think so that leaves me with a stone in the brakes. It also makes sense since the council have resurfaced the road outside my house.

Would it be difficult to get rid of the stones in the brakes myself or would I be better off driving it to the garage? I do worry if I drive it I might do further damage to it?

It's most likely caught between the dust shield and the disc, determine which wheel it is jack it up and take that wheel off then you should be able to remove it by pushing the dust shield out, it might need a bit of persuasion with a long thin screwdriver.

Yep most likely a stone, pop off the wheel and jam a screwdriver in!

Same thing happened me a couple of years ago.. thought it was a bearing or something.. as suggested i jacked up the wheel and wiggled it around and out popped a little pebble.. screech gone
