    Hi
I am constructing a wind barrier consisting of a mass concrete reinforced wall topped by glazing.
It has been speced by a qualified engineer for a wind load of 1000N/m2.
    The glazing to be mounted on 150 x 150box or 200 x100rhs or 152 x152 uc.
Now i have enough high quality 100 x 100 stainless box (for free) available to do the job and i hope that by internally sleeving it 94 mm along its length with rhs and plate that it can achieve the same strength as a 150 x 150 mild steel box as specified.
I want to use the stainless for the finish and will be checking back with my engineer but he is away for the next month so my question is , is there any merit in my thinking.

    What's the question?
Will this work: only your engineer can comment...

Any engineer can comment , only mine can certify
Take a bit more time and read and don't be so dismissive

Doesn't matter what you think really, if your engineer won't sign off on it, it's a no go. Your engineer really needs to look at the possibility of the layout.

I'm trying to think what benefit the internally sleeve will give, maybe a drawing showing how it's connected to the outer sleeve and how loads will be transferred from the bigger box to the inner sleeve will show more detail.

Structural items . Issues relating to the specification of structural components is prohibited. Any queries in this regard need to be dealt with by an architect/engineer privately
