    Hi all,

Is there still a Homebase in the retail park on the Timahoe road? Or did imagine that? Carlow one closed a while and don't see anything near listed except Dublin?

    Yes

It has a tendency to close a lot earlier than the posted opening times. Twice I have nipped out half an hour before the stated closing time and it has all been shut. Put me off using it at all.

Yeah that happened to me a couple of times too, if they can't update the opening times on the web then it says a lot about the store

To be honest I couldn't even find the store listed on their website, and little mention of it elsewhere. Sort of bizarre for a chain store like that.
Thanks guys all the same, it does actaully exist, that's a good start ;)

The management of the store leaves a lot to be desired. A few weeks ago, I rang twice the same day to make an enquiry about a hedge trimmer, the first time the phone was picked up and then put down again, the second time it rang out. I then went to the store and there was nobody around at all to assist me, so I just left and bought what I wanted on amazon. I needed a lawnmower recently and went back again as I believed they had stock of a specific model I wanted. This time I got what I wanted and a friendly store assistant helped me (mind, after I stopped him). However the till operator rung up the wrong price (100 euro over) and then had to scan the box after I pointed out the error. So some good deals to be had but the shop really needs to tighten up their operation.

I've had similar experiences, staff can be really hit and miss as regards customer service. I do buy there from time to time as they often carry lines that other stores do not have and it is very convenient. They seem to have a high staff turnover (at least that's how it looks to me)and I'll never forget the ignorant bint who flatly refused to make up a tin of tinted satinwood for me- so off to Telfords and paid €2 more for the 2.5L but got proper service! Their garden furniture and accessories is probably the best around, to be fair.
