I applied for a Job via an agency and have just noticed the Company are recruiting it directly also.
Does this put agency candidates in a weaker position because if they hire me they have to pay a fee whereas if they find someone themselves they don't ?

More likely a case of the agency copied and pasted it from the company without informing them.

That happened in a company I worked for some time back - the agency did a copy and paste job and even were so incompetent as to include the typo in our original ad.

    Go with the company.

I had already gone through the agency by the time I noticed and I'm not even sure was it up before I was submitted by the agency. I would always go direct to company if possible
