Is it in the rear wheel arch?

Maybe it hasn't got one. Some cars only have have a filter on the in-tank fuel pump.

Any hints from the briskoda guys? Surely if you follow the fuel line from the tank to the engine you should find it. Maybe it's behind or under the sill.

No joy yet ,ref briskoda, have a proper look tomorrow afternoon, looked everywhere,on older models ,it's on front of you,in engine bay, thanks, good night

This may or may not help but I looked up your model and the fuel filter looks like inline one so don't think it would be in the engine bay so my guess would be to jack up the car on the right hand side and locate the fuel line and go back along the car until you locate the filter. Hope it helps some bit and good luck.
