    I dont see a "straight" festival/parade

    Why bother?

Eh because it's a celebration of all things colourful and fabulous hunty.

Nope, let them go ahead. It takes a long time for things to really become "normal". It was years after women could legally continue work after marriage (banks and govt dept) before it became more than "ah bless, sure isn't it good for her..."

Worth a fair few bob to the local economy and also a bloody good night out, why kill the goose?

I don't see the need for them anymore. They've been given all the rights they demanded. I don't see black people still marching to end Apartheid in South Africa.

Seems like discrimination against straight people to me.

No they're just still rioting over land rights and farms etc.

My God. How do they even get up in the morning with such abuse.

Yes, let's all just forget the fact that 700,000 people vehemently opposed them being given all the rights they demanded.

Why not? Sure the catholics had a parade through Cork city only last weekend, and they have been allowed to marry for ages.

What do you think Pride Parades are? Irish ppl should quit shoving their potatoe growing agenda down people's throats though.

For me, fat guys in (straight) porn is a massive turn-off.

It has to be a hot guy.

And nobody wants to see some chap tapping away with a willy like a children's toothbrush. No. Everyone wants to see the girl jaunted by something the size of a baby's arm holding an apple.

My question is, is this a bit gay?

Surely not? I guess there's a lot we don't know about human sexuality yet. I know what I want in my straight porn though: fit guys and whopping great penises :o:o:o

Not a celebration for everyone..if you go onto the gay pride site it doesnt say its a celebration for all,but for the lgbt community.

It wouldn't be my thing but I say let it go ahead. It causes no harm and benefits lots of business around Ireland.

Oh noes, how could someone do such a thing! Opinions are there to be belittled, criticised, ridiculed. Welcome to life.

So what? St Patrick Day is a celebration of Irishness. Not everyone right?

It's just a group of people coming together to celebrate something they have in common. I don't see what the problem is.

It's the same as any other cultural event.

And come to think of it, I remember an African parade about a month before that one. The didn't go down Grand Parade though, because it wasn't large enough.

Yeah they have been welcoming straight people. All the time and in every parade I've ever seen.

Do you think a St Patrick Day website has to mention every other nationality otherwise they're not welcome?

Just because they have the right to marry, doesn't mean homophobia doesn't exist. As long as there is a significant subset of the population which believes that consensual acts can be wrong or evil, a movement is going to have to exist to defend them.
    I dont see a "straight" festival/parade

Straight people are not currently discriminated against except by a small (but admittedly) influential section of the media which leans towards privilege fascism (HuffPost, Guardian etc) - however if more of the media started following this trend or if it leads to major societal repercussions, I have no doubt that such a movement would become necessary. And that's a sad commentary on where some of the voices who used to champion freedom and equality want to take us.

Security must be getting lax at the Paddy's day parades, I wasn't asked for my passport as proof of Irish citizenship this year. Hopefully I can catch a look at the gay pride parade without a valid gay card.
