    Sounds like the coil pack.

    Coil pack.

Could the exhaust be blocked? I've seen the fiberglass stuff in the silencers in these come adrift with "blonde hair" hanging out the end of the exhaust pipe.

it was chugging before and i changed the spark plugs and the chugging went away. Now its back and i changed the spark plugs again and it did nothing. It only starts all this after about 10 minutes of driving. I dont think its the exhaust because other the odd tutting noise it sounds normal.

Almost definitely a coil pack issue. It also could be a blown head gasket but I'd get the coil pack checked first.

Mine was same year same model, it was the egr valve that was causing it. Same symptoms except I had the engine warning light

Google 'Astra' and 'Kangarooing' and you'll get tons of results. Usually coil pack or EGR. Both an easy fix.

On the spark plugs, did you get plugs with 2 or 4 prongs? From what I gather they originally came with 2 pronged plugs but Opel introduced 4 pronged plugs to solve a number of issues (mainly starting trouble after a short journey). If you look up plugs on MicksGarage or similar you should see both 2 and 4 pronged plugs in the results. 4 pronged plugs cured the starting problem for me but the car seemed to run a lot better too. Might be worth a try if you think a change of plugs fixed your issue before.

My last 2 sets of spark plugs from micks garage have been 2 prongs (denso) and had no trouble at all with them.
Easy to see if its Egr valve, just disconnect it, if car runs fine you will know its Egr, only problem engine managemnt light will stay on, left my one disconnected until i got a new one when i had a problem with the Egr.

They have both for a reason. In this case it's obviously worth a try. Plenty of cases of those without any previous issues noting improved performance with the 4 prongs.
