Do we need heat recovery system and geothermal

Hi, just need some advice. We've been recommended to get 2 pro air heat recovery systems for our new house by our electrician. Our house is over 3,500sqf. It comes in at a cost of €7,000 and we were thinking of getting geothermal as our heating system which is about €23,000 grand. But it's a a lot of money and we were wondering should we just do normal air vents and not get the heat recovery system or should be do heat recovery system and do another heating system in out house that's not geothermal. Any advice if people have the two systems or know how efficiently to get them both working to keep down your esb bills would be greatly appreciated. Our house is well insulated & if we go air recovery system airtight.

Not nearly enough information to give any kind of meaningful advise.
How air tight is the house?
What is the heating demand / heating load?

Whoever designed / specified the building fabric are best suited to advise you.

And why on gods earth is your electrician advising you on your ventilation requirements!

    Hi Mick,
The electrician was recommending the system but we had the house independently assesssed but we're just thinking vents might be just as good with the geothermal and obviously not as expensive. Our only fear would be that the esb bills would be very high if the geothermal had to compensate by working harder with the vents. We just don't want to be hoodwinked into a system that we don't actually really need.

Been looking at installing this myself in a self build .Just consider the pros and cons. Your putting in the most expensive heating system you can get to heat this large highly insulated house ,to get to current building regs or better . And then coring 4inch holes to the outside for ventilation ? This makes no sense . Heat recovery ventilation will keep the heat in the house , disperse the heat evenly throughout the house in a controled manner all the while filtering the fresh air and preventing dust and mould giving you a healthier living environment . It will save you money on your heating . You will require HRVS to reach airtightness A rating BER or higher .
