Irish Government Debates - A Joke

I was watching a debate on the 'Houses of Oireachtas' channel between Joan Burton and Mary Lou McDonald regarding water charges (why I was watching it is beyond me) and alongside the droning, squealing voice of Joan Burton the most annoying thing was the childish and unintelligent group of politicians surrounding each party, particularly Labour. When Joan got her first one-up, her entire Labour gang began roaring and shouting with joy and couldn't even keep their mouths closed when told to shut up. Is it just me or does anyone else think it is an absolute joke our government can't even sit still when they are told? It's like a pre-school classroom.

Smart ass comebacks seems to make one a good politician it seems. Never need to answer the question just respond in the most condescending/derogatory way. Then high fives all round. Just think of it like a dance off and a big circle.

    You voted for those morons.

Start voting for intelligent adults if you want change.

Labour tricked half the country with their false 'promises' before the election.
It seems Mary Lou McDonald is one of the only politicians who actually stands up and defends the rights of Irish people when it comes to water charges, but that doesn't make Sinn Fein perfect. On the other hand, Labour is a total joke.

When was that debate you were watching? It must have been a re-run on the Oireachtas channel from the past, if you saw it today.

Mary Lou has no interest in working people or their problems. She comes from a priveleged background with private fee paying education followed by Trinity College. She will pay her water charges just like she paid her property tax. She uses the Dail as a place to carry out her occasional publicity stunts and anyone who falls for that tactic is stupid.

I think it was dated from October?

Ah, you see, I spend 8 months a year away from the country and don't really concern myself with politics, but I know enough that the Irish government is total rubbish and that Gerry Adams is an absolute fool. So, nope, I am not a supporter or promoter of Sinn Fein but it did seem Mary Lou was much more appropriate then squeaky Joan in this particular debate. :)

Any politicians who actually stands up and defends the rights of people when it comes to water charges in the country you went to?

There's cynical and then there's cynical and then there's Mary Lou.

Germany, France and Canada? They all have a somewhat productive government and aren't being charged for 'dangerously low levels of water' as Joan Burton puts it.

    Do you really think that

    a) Labour are that clever, and

    b) Half the country are that stupid?

    Really?

Ah now, Labour's promises can only be held if they were the sole government party, anyone who was voting Labour and thought they would be the sole party has to be deluded, and what they have done is temper what FG could do (mostly by not allowing reform and saying no to a lot of cuts).

Sinn Féin are such a populist party, and their policies would put us back on the narrow tax base reliance that caused the massive deficit in the first place. They'll flip-flop on every issue if it'll buy a few votes as they have no real economic values of their own.

I would not be voting for either of these two anyway :)
