lads i'm thinking of buying a well kept largely unmolested early FD rx7, they look great, drive better, and are becoming appreciated as future classic cars

I'm worried about the guards pulling me over at every opportunity due to the fact that the car has a big spoiler and these sort of cars have historically been associated with street racing and were owned by young drivers with exuberant driving styles.

has this changed and am I being unfair or should this actually be a concern(assuming i'm not flouting the speed limits etc)?

If you don't have a loud exhaust, tinted front windows or poxy fake xenon lights on it and have valid tax, insurance and NCT you should be fine.

Yeah I thought this might be the response

I'm keeping it as stock as i can, there is an aftermarket exhaust on it but I'm likely going to take it off

My car is tinted , aftermarket spoiler and exhaust and I have no issue with being pulled over, as long as your window is up to date and your not messing on the roads you should have no trouble. I would love an FD myself they are stunning cars, I'd definitely recommend reading up on rotories if you haven't already.

If you were to keep the car pretty much stock and did not act the maggot on the road I'd be surprised if you got any notable grief from the Guards. For the most part they are a fairly diplomatic bunch and quite a few of them would drive racey cars themselves alsosmile.png
