Hi, I got the throttle body on my 1.4 golf replaced a few weeks ago as it was losing power. It was replaced by a 2nd hand part for €160. i am now experiencing the exact same problem again and presume its the throttle body again. Does anybody know how much a new part would cost ?

Why was it replaced? These almost never give trouble - I'd be stunned if it is the cause.

There are many things that could could cause the loss of power - has a fault code scan been done yet?

Yeah a diagnostic test was done and he said it came up as the fault, It worked fine for a week or two after so I presumed that was the cause. Not so sure now tho.

Any idea what the exact fault code or description was?

Sorry dont have a fault code, No Power at all in first gear managed to get it going in 2nd gear (only gets to abt 10 mil an hour) then it suddenly came back to life again when i moved it into 3rd gear but cut out again when in 1st

Something similair happened me with an astra turned out to be the MAF sensor was faulty, disconnect it and see if it runs any better or just cuts out, either of these happens its more than likely it, if you know someone with same car swap over part and see if there any difference saves you throwing endless money at parts just hoping its fixed

Could be a problem with the accelerator itself. It sends an electrical signal to the throttle body these days. Maybe the throttle fault was incorrectly diagnosed. What year is the car?
