How many bikinis do you bring on holidays?

Hi guys, going to Portugal for a week in two weeks time and been sorting out what to bring (between having two jam packed weekends, working full time and having a hubbie and son I need to get organised in advance!).

I have two bikinis to bring with me, and alternate between them each day. But people (bloggers) that I follow seem to be wearing a new bikini every day!

I generally just buy bikinis that I can mix and match, so I have a few plain colored bottoms that I can wear with patterned tops and vice versa. That way it looks like I have loads of different bikinis but really I have about three actual sets and then some cheap block colour separates from Penneys/Forever 21.

Just two - to be able to alternate them when one set is drying.

Two. And the second one is just in case. If you have loads of money then buy more but otherwise it is better to buy one or two good pairs. Vast majority of women need well designed and supporting swimwear and it is better to bring less and decent quality than swimwear from Penny's or Tesco. There is very little material to present your body in best possible shape so it has to fit well and be comfortable. Frankly I don't know anybody who would wear different swimwear every day. Nobody will notice or mind if you are wearing same pair every day but a lot will notice if your boobs are not fitting properly.

Edit: Bloggers make money from selling clothes, very often cheap disposable fashion. More of their stuff you check or buy more money they make. They are not the best to advise on quantity.

I usually bring 2 or 3 - but the third one is generally a last resort bikini. I only generally own 2 or 3 at a time, we do live in Ireland ya know?

Any recommendations on where to get decent bikinis, rather than the cheaper ones?

And in answer to the thread's question, I usually bring 2 aswell :)

I didn't mean that all cheaper stuff is bad but I do think that dedicated lingerie or swimwear brands are better bet than clothing stores that do few bikinis on the side. If you are size six and A cup it probably doesn't matter but for those of us less perfect it does. My best bikini was from la perla, it was expensive but probably the best per wear value since it lasted for about ten years. I do buy stuff in Tesco or Penny's, I just think buying swimwear takes time and more often than not costs a bit more.

For me bras, tights and swimwear have to be fitting right. Other stuff you can cover a bit, add a belt or whatever but bras that are too small are very obvious and uncomfortable.

Thanks all. Have two ready to bring with me, left over's from last year's holiday, was just wondering was it too much or two little. Sure look the hubbie and son have one pair of swim shorts each, they're not complaining! I personally wouldn't bother spending much money on a bikini - for the few wears it would get one week of the year, it's just not worth spending much on in terms of cost per wear imo!

I live in California and swim or spend time by the pool regularly so I suppose that's why I have more than what seems to be the average. I definitely agree with people who say to invest or at least buy bikinis that can be purchased as separates. So many women do not wear the same size on the top and bottom so it's great to be able to tailor to what your body needs.

I brought two bikinis and a sporty swimsuit for my honeymoon. Both of mine were relatively good - one Freya green halterneck, one Curvy Kate navy polkadot. The sporty swimsuit was a Dolfin Uglies one with a print I liked, intended for when I got a sneaky dip as a workout rather than lounging.
