    Hi,

does anyone know if it's possible to "enter an appearance" late?

like if the deadline is passed to submit the appearance is there any way to pay a late fee and submit one?

I'm trying to read the circuit court rules but it reads like gibberish!

    See Order 15(2)
    2. Save where otherwise provided by these Rules, the time for entering an appearance shall be ten days from the service of the Civil Bill, exclusive of the day of service, or such further time as may be agreed between the parties unless the Court shall otherwise direct.

If a defendant/respondent does not enter an appearance on time, the appearance can still be entered with a letter from the other party, consenting to late entry.

You should ring the relevant circuit court office and ask the staff if you have a query on entering an appearance.

The important thing is to try ASAP to avoid default judgment against you.

Thanks all, she got legal advice yesterday and it seems like she was working under some false assumptions. Pat was absolutely right and it looks like it might be less final than it looked from the letter she got.
