For a Fiat 500 1.2 4 cylinder. Is that about right? This is part of my ongoing saga with the bloody thing.

    Thanks in advance!

What mpg does that work out at? You never provided the fuel cost.

Details on your driving style, urban v motorway, when last serviced would help too

    Tank size would help too.

Can't imagine it's a huge tank so that may be pretty good.

How you measure now is too uncertain.
To get the right MPG for the car you need to use the brim method
    1. Fill it up until it clicks full
    2. Make a note of the current mileage of the car
    3. Drive it as normal until almost empty
    4. Go to garage
    5. Fill it up until it clicks full
    6. Make a note of the current mileage of the car
    7. This time also make note how many litres of petrol you filled up with

Now you have 2 number - how many miles you drove since last time, and how many litres it took.
Put those number into a mpg calc like www.mpg-calculator.co.uk
It will give you an accurate mpg.
45mpg (aka 6.3 litres per 100 kms) or so is average depending on driving style/motorway/city etc

Works out at about 41 mpg. It sounds fine.

Going by the average Fuel price of 144.9 (according to pumps.ie) you are looking at 34.5L per 500km. That makes it approx 6.9 Liters per 100km (40.9 MPG). Doesn't seem to be outrageous to me, esp. as we don't know what kind of driving you are doing.

Having a quick look online people seem to report anything from 39MG to 48MPG, depending on Driving style, for that car/engine combination.

Thanks all! Just looking for an approximate. Seems within the range so happy out. I drive like a bit of a numpty so I suspect I'd get more if I didn't have my foot on the floor on the motorways!

You'd be surprised how much of a difference it can make; I took my car's average of 6.2 down to 5.2 on the motorway simply by not driving overly aggressive (and could have gone lower if I'd not have insisted on sitting at top speed all the time).

If I'm at 110Kmh I'm at about 2500rpm at 140 (ahem) I'm nearer 4000rmp that has to make a difference. However it means listening to the wife! :pac:

Jaysus I get that (and better) from my old 1990's 1.8 orion!
If you're driving along at 4000 rev's of course she's not gonna be good on derv!

If you're interested in what RPM people are doing on the motorway there is a thread here you can compare with.
