If you could ban one thing, what would it be?

Is there any product, custom, phrase etc etc.. that you would wish to ban?

You can be as open ended with the answers as you like.
Personally I would like to see a stop to whingy singer-songwriter music(Ed Sheeran etc)
Also those atrocious clothing chains such as Abercrombie and Fitch and Jack Wills, or T-Shirts with ironic catchphrases on them.

EDIT: Just realise my horrific exclusion of the word ''would'' in the thread title, I suppose I'll be banning that too.

Seats that go back on airplanes and buses, had me knees squished by some ignorant so and so recently, horrible experience. It's cramped enough as it is without allowing the person infront of you to tilt their seat back.

I take your point, but I'd when you say "ban" Ed Sheeran and Hollister, I'd say "burn" em. Hipster crap. For men who like beards and talk about coffee.

Water protests until they learn how to behave. It's a case of the 1% ruining it for the 99% but the way they go on is unacceptable and until the minority or somehow eradicated it borders on civil disorder at times.

Speed bumps. Ban 'em and have the current ones all removed.

Not cause I want to speed, but because they destroy cars and most likely cause injuries and delay ambulances / make those in 'em worse than they already are.

Kids running around and in a restaurant at night
Eating out is expensive, I want to enjoy my night out with my wife, I've left my kid at home, poitely do the same with yours or don't be surprised if I stick my foot out and send the little fcker flying

I can't stand them. Nagging about this, nagging about that. Just be happy ffs.

    Twitter.

Idiots of every political hue clustering around hashtag campaigns thinking their outrage should dictate public policy. Mass bullying of people with contrary opinions or those who make a slip up in their life, and bitter celebrities engaging in embarrassing feuds in the public eye. (Witness John Cleese and Piers Morgan currently making donkeys of themselves at the moment)

I truly believe the world was a better place before Twitter, and that it has done more harm than good.

Political slander phrases such as ''Libtard'' or ''Rightist crackpot''.
These phrases do not constitute an argument and make those that employ these phrases sound like idiots with no substantial argument or thought with regards to discussion.

Eating a burger with a fork and knife.

Pretentious gobshîtes that do it. I can't actually think of another thing that enrages me more.

Fashion. Anything you get in penneys, you look awful, and pathetic.

Landlords not accepting rent allowance. It should be treated as discrimination, and should be taken more seriously.

Kids being on any public premises where alcohol is served.

Exams. They're useless. Cramming 1-4 years of books for a 3 hour test? Waste of time and money. Assess every few months, like the LCA.
And get the points system gone too. Just because someone isn't good at French or art and get "only" 300 points shouldn't mean that they can't do nursing (example).
    Less stress and pressure.

    Family guy and American dad.

    Bank charges!!!!

I would ban people protesting in Dublin city centre or just allow it on a sunday yes you have the right to protest but others also have the right to go in to town without being harrassed or getting stuck in traffic for no apparent reason.

Bad manners. Young or old, nothing excuses you, whether it is barging through a queue, or yelling into a mobile phone, in public... Nothing, I tell you, nothing...

You want to ban fashion or bad clothes that are not fashionable?

I wouldn't ban anything. I'd enact legislation that would force political representatives to wear clothes that displayed their benefactors, like this.

Isn't cycling on pavements banned in this country already?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,467 ✭✭✭Very Bored

It is banned but at times you wouldn't think it was.

Ok, if that's already banned then I'd ban domestic abuse. I've heard a few horrible stories from people close to me lately and it really disgusts me (as I imagine it does for any other sane, though I'm not sure how sane I am myself, person). Just dig a pit somewhere out in the country and through those who commit it into it (and I include women as well as men, both are as disgusting as each other).

    Sorry about that rant.

I'd ban Norn Iron people from using the words "situation" and "community" or communiddy.
Any sporting jerseys, if you're over 14, you like a total idiot going around in your Man U or Dublin jersey.

Ban alcohol, tobacco and caffeine. Just to give the hypocritical cunts a taste of their own medicine -or rather not give them a taste of their own psychoactive drug.

Ban burgers which cannot be eaten in your hands in the usual fashion.

Plastic water bottles. A fcking blight on the planet. I've seen the figure of 22 billion plastic water bottles are discarded around the world every year.

My one ban would be that.

Just what the industry calls fashion! One minute its bootleg jeans, then it's leggings and runners, but this time last year if you were caught wearing runners and leggings you'd get laughed at.
One minute Burberry is all the range, then a few years later if you were caught wearing an item with the pattern, your called a chav! It's an industry I just can't get my head around!
