Driver was very lucky not to lose his eye.

6 years. Bloody hell. If that was here it would have been 6 months suspended, or less if he had a string of previous convictions.

Just what is it that makes some people think that buses and bus drivers are legitimate targets for anti-social behaviour?

    Scum of the earth.

While I can empathise with the driver and condemn the assailant, these comments are not particularly constructive and don't belong here.

I understand kids get excited when they see a bus especially a double decker as they love to sit upstairs and see everything but there is a strange aggression out there towards buses and drivers as I have had windows shot out with bearings, stones, rocks, ice balls with rocks inside at times.

I was lucky where a ball bearing smashed through the doors and hit the screen so it saved me.

Absolute idiots out there that think it's fun and don't think about oh when the object goes through the glass will it go through the driver's or passengers head/face.

Why a young offenders for 6 years? He is 18.

He should be forced to work for the bus company and clean all the crap off them and pay the driver compo.

Mine was commentary on the lack of standards here, and relevant in my opinion. If something similar happened to a Dublin Bus driver could you see the assailant getting 6 years? I couldn't, even though he should.
