Pretty much as the title says. I have a 1998 1.3 starlet with the engine gone and I was wondering would it be possible to put in an engine from a glanza of the same year? Is there much involved??

all you need is the bare glanza engine, engine loom and exhaust. Your old gearbox, mounts and engine ancillaries can all be re-used.

Seems to be increasingly more people just running a ct9 at low boost on standard 4e-fe's and doing well with the setup.

Thank you. I was looking it up and people were saying that the back axel has to be changed and part of the chassis had to be cut and wasn't ever going to attempt that. Don't mind engine, exhaust and loom tho. Thanks

Why would the back axle need to be changed? It's a front wheel drive car

Because the glanza has disks and the starlet has drums. Would the ecu be ok?

Well if you were going full glanza rep, the glanza has rear disc brakes but a non turbo starlet has drum brakes. Don't know if i'd be bothered, doubt they make much difference.

Not really unless it throws the emissions out but the Insurance may be a problem.

Then if you had an accident there's a good chance the insurance wouldn't pay out if you don't declare it.

    That would be fraud.

If you have an accident get out and eat the turbo before the fuzz arrive.

The real problem is if you have an accident and the insurance does pay out, if the car has been modified and not disclosed then the insurance company can come after you for the cost of the other parties claim.
In other words you will be liable for the cost of the claim, which can be substantial.
