    Like to expand?
Are you talking about joining An Garda Síochána?
Becoming and underwriter or risk accessor?
    Going into insurance?
    Starting a life of crime?

'I want a career in fraud'- could mean of a remarkably different number of things- some commendable, others, not.

I meant as in work. Jobs that deal specifically with fraud. Maybe consumer fraud or compliance.

Are you good at accountancy- thats the usual way to get into this area (you could specialise in forensic accountancy- and indeed- temping in companies who manage consumer credit/liquidations/asset forfeitures etc- is a good way to get a feel for the industry.

Its not for the faint hearted. You will spend a significant amount of your time in court explaining and justifying your actions- no matter how straightforward and necessary they may have been.

Get a few temp posts first- I imagine you have an idea of what the industry is- which in actual fact is only a very small part of what a role might entail......

After that- you're looking at accountancy qualifications, underwriting experience, actuarial qualifications and experience etc etc etc.

The money is good- but the work is hard- and akin to civil servants and bank workers- its not a job you advertise to people when you're out and about.........

Get a custom support job in a bank and try to move in to the area you want start with the system such as pay backs on credit cards, suspending suspicious payments etc., the important thing is that would get you experience of the system the financial institution use.

I'd say you're already well on the way, skipping NZ with financial commitments still outstanding, and giving advice like this on Boards : http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=95233225.

O yeah the financial institution do a very thorough check of your financial and work history before you get the job( because it is fraud prevention ) and I mean thorough its not a quick check of you references they will ask your permission to check.

Oh dear, a career in fraud rather than fraud prevention then.....

Last time I had to get a clearance, I needed to provide evidence to confirm no debts outstanding nor legal actions, a police certificate of good character and certification by the state security services that I did not represent a threat to national security!

    Its pretty standard.
You also get asked whether you've ever lived abroad- where, for how long- and often you'll have to get clearances from them too.......
It can take quite some time to get all your clearances (sometimes months......)

Of course- it depends on the post you're going for........
