So I need to have a serious rant over JD sports coz I'm so frickin P*ssed off with them right now. At Christmas I decided to order my last bits and pieces for my son and hubby. I went to pay for my order and was told that there was an error and that no money had been taken from my payment method.... so I logged onto my online banking only to find that they had taken every cent off me for the order. When I'd got in contact with them they told me that the money was only pending and would be back in my account the next day. So the next day I log on to online banking to find there was still no refund in my account. So I rang them back only to be told that it can take up to five working days! (this was five days before Christmas) So I'm down 150 euro and extra pressies for the son and hubby!! The money finally went back into my account on the 29th Dec! (no good to me then but how or never) Now I know I should have learned my lesson by now and never order from JD again but what does muggins here do?!? Order from them again! my son's Birthday is next week and I don't have the time to get to the shops so said I'd order some bits and pieces online! I made my order with JD sports and once again the same thing happens - 'we're sorry an error has occurred and no payment has been taken from you'..... log onto my online banking and once again the payment is pending in my account! so I'm now down 200 quid it's my sons birthday next week and i'm going to have to go through this same rigmarole again! I'm really fecked off at this point and would really appreciate any advice possible on this matter! Surely they should have sorted out this payment glitch by now! It's beyond ridiculous! TIA for any advice

I answered you in the other thread you posted. Zero anyone can do. JD Sports cancelled the payment. Bank can't take hold off the account until 5 working days have gone by.

Thanks for the reply.... I know from my experience at Christmas that there is nothing anyone can do but it's not good enough. I spoke with someone from jd sports and was told that this has been an ongoing problem with the Irish website and they're unsure why!? And that they are trying to rectify this problem... So it's obviously happening to a lot of Irish customers... Surely they should be made to take the site down until the problem is fixed rather than taking people's money and holding it!? I'm now short on money for my son's birthday coz of their website issues!!

They should fix it and its something their payment processor or IT dept should eb able to do quite simply.

However they are not holding your money - its the bank. The money never touches their account, but as most systems and bank systems just update once a day, so in a nutshell here is what is happening

Day 1 - you place your order. Money held.
Day 2 - JD system cancels your order, but system does not update til end of day
Day 3 - JD payment processor processes the payment/hold cancellation.
Day 4 - your bank receives the hold cancellation.
End of day 4 - hold taken off your card as system are updated.

There has been a recent speeding up in card processing, so possibly the hold may now get taken off quicker.

I understand this and I also understand that it is the bank holding onto the money but if it wasn't for JD cocking up on their stock take or what ever the issue is then the bank wouldn't have to hold the money in the first place. it's not fair that JD still haven't rectified this issue with their Irish website when they are fully aware of it and this is obviously happening to a lot of other Irish customers! I know the simple thing to do is not order off them again (which I won't be) but I think Irish consumers need to be aware. I mean nine months later and it's still happening!? they must have a bunch of Monkeys working in their IT dept.!! (sorry to insult Monkeys!):eek:

The same thing just happened to me right now, I need my clothes for a holiday next week (400 EUROS WORTH). Now I have to wait up to 5 days for my money back, and also have no decent clothes for my holiday.. Outrageous!!
