So does a Beclare ram used on just say Suffolk or Texel ewes boost lamb percentage straight away or is it his female offspring that are prolific?

No, it's the ewe that determines crop size, a healthy ram will put in enough semen to serve lots of ewes everytime.
We do a bit of AI here and you'd get enough semen to do 50 ewes in one jump

Yea you definitely need a ram in reserve on the day, wonder why they don't use the electric probe like our vet does when doing fertility tests, seems to work every time and no need to have sponged ewes around

A person shall not use, or cause or permit to be used, any electrical equipment or an instrument, which applies a sustained electric current or impulse directly to a live animal

    (c) for any other purpose.

strange that a vet is using something banned by welfare law
